FAQs

Is it better to stay by the beach or in the city of Tulum?

Depending on your budget, Tulum town is much more budget-friendly and values for travelers on a budget, long-term visitors, or partiers who wants to have bars and nightlife close by. The beach zone, however, offers an unbelievable experience and unbeatable ocean view.

Where is the best location to stay in Tulum?

Tulum beach zone is divided into three sections: North, south, and middle.

North Beach

North beach is located from the intersection of Avenida Coba and the beachfront road, stretching to the Tulum ruins. This location is within walking distance of Tulum Mayan ruins, with the best white sandy beaches in Tulum and relatives of better value. But, this area has limited restaurant options, and little nightlife, shopping, and the public beach can get crowded.

Middle Beach Zone

The middle beach zone is the stretch of beach roughly between Avenida Coba and Avenida Kukulkan along the beach road. This is where all the action is at, and is the best location in town with a good mix of bars, restaurants, and shopping. However, hotels are this section can be expensive, but beach access is usually for hotel guests only.

South Beach

South beach is the long stretch of beach road running south of Avenida Kukulkan towards the Sian Ka'an biosphere. It has a great mix of beautiful beaches and a lot of restaurants, bars, and shopping. It has the best nightlife on the beach, but this also means this location can be expensive, and you may experience some traffic during peak periods.
